Ashford Kent Ashford is located in the very heart of Kent and as such is ideally situated for discovering why this part of the country is affectionately known as the Garden of England. One of the best ways of exploring and getting to know Ashford itself though is to stroll around the town’s heritage trail. Brochures outlining the trail are available free of charge from the Tourist Information Centre, that can be found next door to the Ashford Borough Museum. The trail lasts around an hour taking in sights such as the Parish Church that gained a mention in the Doomsday Book and dates back to 1250. You’ll also see the College for Priests founded in 1464, as well as lots of housing dating back to various eras including medieval, Georgian and Jacobean. There’s even the surprising sight of a World War One Tank that was presented to Ashford in appreciation of the town’s support for war loans. Ashford also thrives as a convenient commuter town, as it has great links via road and rail to other areas of Kent and London. What’s more with the fairly recent addition of Ashford’s International station you can now hop on board the chic Eurostar service to places such as Paris, Brussels, Lille and Disneyland Paris.
