Hereford Herefordshire
The heart of Hereford must be its
beautiful Cathedral. Dating from Norman times it is also
home to the unique Mappa Mundi
and the world’s largest Chained Library.
The Cathedral also hosts The
Three Choirs Festival. Hereford is also famous as a
livestock and agricultural centre while Hereford cattle with
their white faces are exported to over 120 countries
throughout the world.
High Town is the focal point of the city
and a centre for shopping. Nearby is the Buttermarket with
its traditional market stalls. In contrast is the 20th
century Courtyard Centre for the arts and new Riverside
facilities.
Hereford has a wide variety of Museums and
is within easy reach of many sites of historic interest. It
is also a centre for walkers either within the city or over
longer distances. The nearby Forest of Dean is another
favourite with walkers, naturalists and bird watching
enthusiasts.
